This constellation was created by Johannes Hevelius in the 1680's.

There is only one object of note for amateurs and that is M27 the Dumbell Nebula. It is one of the best known nebula with hundreds of pictures being taken of it by amateurs and professionals. A 6 inch telescope should be adequate to show the structure of this nebula. A larger telescope can show it 13th magnitude central star. Long exposure photography offers fantastic views.
