This constellation was created in the 18th Century by Nicolas-Louis Lacaille. And of course there has to be constellation of the most famous piece of astronomical equipment.

Unfortunately Telescopium only offers one globular cluster to keep the more serious amateur occupied. A 10 inch telescope is required to view NGC 6584 and resolve any stars.
