Sextans The Sextant
Constellation Index

This constellation was introduced in to the sky in 1687 by Johannes Hevelius. He decided to create it to honour the instrument he used to measure star positions.

There is only one object worth using your telescope on and that is NGC 3115, the Spindle Galaxy. It is 9th magnitude and large telescopes are required to give any definition although a 6 inch should quite easily show the galaxies elongated shape.
