This constellation has been seen since ancient times as a wild animal. It was only around the 16th Century when it became known as a wolf.
Lupus lies over the edge of the Milky Way in the lower hemisphere. Due to its position you should be able to find several star clusters.
The main clusters you can find are NGC 5822, an open cluster with approximately 150 stars. NGC 5986 is a 7th magnitude globular cluster, which with a 6 inch telescope you should be able to resolve the outer stars.
There is one planetary nebula NGC 5873 that you could try locating, but it is not one of the best in the sky.
