This constellation has been associated as a lion for centuries, even farther back than 0 B.C. and is part of the Zodiac
It is a very distinct shape that cannot be confused with anything else.
It lies over a region that is quite baron of stars, but it has many galaxies that make up for it, viewable in a telescope. You should be able to see up to 9. They are as follows:- M65,M66,M96,M95,M105,NGC 2903,NGC 3521,NGC 3607, NGC 3628.
Also of interest around November the 16th, 17th, and 18th is the Leonids Meteor shower.
