Auriga The Charioteer
Constellation Index

This constellation was thought to be Erechtheus the charioteer. Erechtheus, Son of Hephaestus, invented a chariot with 4 wheels with which to transport his disabled body.

Auriga is set on a background of the Milky Way and has many numerous globular clusters. M36, M37 and M38 are the main ones.

There is also IC405, the Flaming Star Nebula. Long exposure photographs are required to see this nebula in all its glory.

Auriga is very easy to locate with Gemini to the bottom left and Taurus to the bottom right.
