This bird was offered to Europeans as a gift.

A small and mostly uninteresting constellation. It does contain a faint globular cluster NGC 6101 and S Apodis, a small Nova, where the Star emitts dark material, presumably dust and gas. This material reduces the brightness of the Star and then over a period of about 6 weeks the dust and gas disperses and so the Star brightens again. It then repeats this process.
